CEREC® Restorations

A New Reason to Smile…
Using a camera, a computer and a milling machine, Cerec makes our dental practice different. It is a “Computer aided design – Computer-aided manufactured” crown, or “CAD-CAM.” This crown is milled by a computer to fit your tooth precisely, thus eliminating the laboratory step in manufacturing the crown. It allows us to complete a ceramic tooth restoration chairside using an optical impression of the damaged tooth.

With Cerec’s CAD-CAM technology, the restoration is made by a computer while you wait, thus eliminating the second appointment and the temporary crown. These Cerec restorations are milled out of pure ceramic. Cerec technology can also be used to manufacture porcelain fillings. Our dentists are very skilled cosmetic dentists who are also able to create Cerec porcelain veneers, inlays and onlays. Doing these well requires an exceptional amount of skill, patience and a key eye for detail.

Advantages:

  • Cerec crowns are made in one visit
  • The patients does not have to return to the office to have the “indirect” crown placed since it was made in one visit
  • With Cerec, there is no need for a temporary crown, which eliminates one of the potential discomforts for the patient
  • Cerec crowns have no metal in them, and thus are reasonably esthetic
  • Cerec material and technology can also be used for fillings. Since they are made out of porcelain, they are more durable than typical white composite fillings
  • Cerec crowns allows the dentist to save more of your healthy tooth
  • Cerec crowns are extremely precise
  • While the initial investment in Cerec restoration is more expensive than a filling, it can save money over the long run because we warranty the restoration for your lifetime. (This warranty is valid for your lifetime as long as you are in our office every 6 months for your preventive care reservation and Dr. Beri can examine the restoration for any defects).

Disadvantages:

  • Using Cerec technology requires extra training on the part of the dentist. You need to be sure your dentist is expert in this technology.
